Our Story: From "What If" to Epic Quests
Coffee and Dragons began, as all the best adventures do, with a "what if" conversation. Co-founders Navaar and Tora imagined a space where their favorite things—great coffee and immersive tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs)—could collide. They envisioned more than just a store; they wanted a central hub for community, creativity, and camaraderie.
Their first step was creating the Coffee and Dragons Discord server on May 17, 2023, offering a digital gathering place for their local D&D group to share lore and laughs outside of game night. By July 15, 2023, Tora launched the first virtual D&D campaign, officially kicking off their foray into hosting games.
The venture went live in a big way on June 1, 2025, with the launch of CoffeeandDragonsRPG on Twitch. Their inaugural stream featured their currently running D&D campaign, Ark of Eternity. The stream involved a hilarious, unplanned moment when a player had to cancel for a fishing trip after simply forgetting about the game. The rest of the group's spontaneous decision to pull a practical joke—announcing a 'Total Party Kill'—was so compelling that Tora streamed the entire escapade live. This moment of pure, unexpected fun perfectly captured the spirit of Coffee and Dragons and immediately attracted a loyal following.
Today, Coffee and Dragons is dedicated to fostering the next generation of gamers while serving up a unique brand of streamed and in-person adventures.
Tora: Architect of Adventure, Co-Founder & Dungeon Master
I’m Tora, and I’m one of the co-founders here at Coffee and Dragons.
My passion for tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) goes way back to the 1990s, and I've been hooked on one system or another ever since. My history with games spans a vast library of lore. I've played and run everything from AD&D through 5th Edition, World of Darkness, Rifts, Cyberpunk, Champions, and many more. But my experience isn't limited to tabletop; I also have a strong background in digital worlds like World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, and various Civilization titles.
This diverse background has given me many years of experience as a world builder. For Coffee and Dragons, you’ll find me putting that experience to use both as the Dungeon Master (DM) for our flagship campaigns, including Acquisitions Incorporated, and our series for newcomers, D&D 101. Beyond the dice and the monster manual, I’m also the person who runs the tech side of things—operating the stream itself and creating all the custom overlays that bring our adventures to life on Twitch.
Navaar: Guardian of the Brand, Co-Founder & Quality Control
I'm Navaar, and I’m one of the co-founders of Coffee and Dragons.
My official role is often described as Quality Control, which means I make sure everything we do—from the setup of our Discord channels to the artwork used in our overlays and social media—looks clean, consistent, and ready for primetime.
My love for games started years ago with simple board games, card games, and dice games. That naturally grew into digital strategy with the Civilization series and large-scale community adventures in World of Warcraft and Diablo.
Life threw a few unexpected critical hits my way when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, which I successfully beat. In 2022, we were lucky enough to catch it early when it metastasized in my brain. The surgery left me with some challenges, particularly with the use of my right side, which meant I had to step away from some of the activities I loved.
During my recovery, Tora and I spent hours watching Critical Role’s Campaign Three. Missing the deep community and collaboration of World of Warcraft, I quickly realized that TTRPGs could fill that exact need. Now, I’m helping build this community and sharing the joy of D&D with others, proving that even when things change, you can always find a new way to roll the dice. I love helping other new players learn the ropes, making D&D accessible to everyone.
WhimsicalWoo: Song Mistress and Adventurer
Hi, I’m Whimsi—though you might also hear me called WhimsicalWoo or Tuney! I’ve been friends with Tora and Navaar since 2019. Essentially, I craft a good majority of the custom music you find yourself bopping your head to while listening to the Coffee and Dragons RPG streams!
My musical journey started early. I began singing at the age of nine, participated in many choirs over the years, and even took a shot at fame by auditioning for American Idol in 2009. I tried out with "My Immortal" by Evanescence, but unfortunately, it was the year they went heavy on country music. It taught me a memorable lesson: sometimes luck plays as big a role as talent!
My introduction to D&D was a bit untraditional. I started with Dungeons and Dragons Online in 2008, playing consistently for about three years before jumping into World of Warcraft. I guess you could say I have a soft spot for MMORPGs!
I didn't play my first 'on paper' TTRPG until 2018, which was a one-on-one game. It didn't quite hook me, but I finally found the magic with online D&D via D&D Beyond in 2022. Since then, I’ve been immersed in seven different campaigns. I've taken on quite a few personas, including the druid Silver, the cleric/sorcerer Wolviel, the barbarian Ronaidark, and currently, the paladin Faeth. After trying out different classes, I’ve found that the healing classes—like Cleric or Druid—will always be my favorite.
I’m excited to keep creating music for Coffee and Dragons RPG and adding to the atmosphere of our streams. If you’re ever interested in a custom song or two, feel free to reach out and we can discuss your next project!
JalapenoNuts: Master Illusionist and Adventurer
Hey there — I’m jalapeñoNuts. I’ve always loved being in the spotlight and telling stories, whether it was through film, theatre, or now, streaming. I went to school for digital filmmaking and editing, but life had other plans. I ended up building a career in IT and data analysis — the kind of “jack of all trades” path that keeps things interesting.
From 2008 to 2011, I was deeply involved in community theatre. I did a bit of everything — acting, singing, dancing, directing, stage management, even set design and performance coaching. I’ve always been a character actor at heart, and those years really shaped my love for performance and collaboration.
After a long creative hiatus, I started streaming on Twitch in July 2025 as a hobby — just a way to reconnect with storytelling and creativity again. I’ve got some experience with Dungeons & Dragons, but what really hooks me is the roleplay side of TTRPGs. I’ve played Pathfinder, D&D, and even started Game Mastering a Fallout TTRPG — my first streamed campaign on Twitch (and 2nd GM'd TTRPG ever).
Through a shared Discord community, Dragon’s Lair, I found Coffee and Dragons and joined a game of Acquisitions Incorporated as the fast-talking Elf Bard, Gil. What started as a simple request for an intro video turned into something bigger — now I get to introduce Coffee and Dragons games with videos styled perfectly for each campaign.
It feels like coming full circle — back to storytelling, back to performance, and back to doing what I love.
